How do you study football rules? Gary McCarthy, a field judge in the Northeast-10 conference, and I crossed paths on my blog almost a year and a half ago. Gary was a newer college official and I wanted the perspective from someone who had just moved up to compliment the crusty veterans I had been interviewing. I asked if Gary would contribute and he agreed. The original interview was over an hour long and during that time Gary revealed a rules study technique of which I had not heard.
