Officiating Football in the hot July summer? You betcha! I had the opportunity to share the field with some good friends a few weeks ago. We officiated a local semi-pro team’s game who belong to the Mid Continental Football League. These teams play under NFL rules and play a regional schedule. We work a six man crew and the season starts in early July running through mid October. They play on Saturday night so I don’t get much work after the college season starts due to schedule conflicts.

This league requires a six man crew so the mechanics are somewhat different from high school to college but its all football at the end of the day. We had a great time on a nice Saturday night and as you can tell by the pictures our dressing room was plush! Pictured here are Michael Neel, Alan Grey, Mike Wonder and James Marrs III.

  1. Is that the world famous “Big Boy Football” I have heard so much about? I have heard there is some seriuos talent in that league.

  2. But of course Daddy Longlegs! One day you might gain enough experience to be considered for a position on such an elite crew…!!!

  3. Do you think I will be able to shine your shoes before the gaems starts Mr. Skaggs or carry your bag?
