January will be Fitness for Football Officials month at www.profootballreferee.com. After receiving quite a bit of feedback via emails, Facebook comments and Tweets about fitness I’m taking the fitness topic into my own hands. Who better to be our Fitness Poster Boy than Ed Hochuli. I’m sure most of us have watched Ed Hochuli on TV and marveled at his top physical conditioning.

So back to Fitness. I don’t profess to be an expert on ANY fitness topics. I’m just an end-user. So when I say taking this into my own hands…Well really not my hands. I’ve enlisted the help of my friend, Craig Ballantyne.
Craig is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and writes for Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Maximum Fitness, Muscle and Fitness Hers, and Oxygen magazines. His trademarked Turbulence Training fat loss workouts have helped thousands of men and women around the world lose fat, gain muscle, and get lean in less than 45 minutes three times per week.
I’ve been following the Turbulence Training system for the past two years and really like the results. Quick workouts combining free weights, body weight exercises and interval training get me in and out of the gym in less than an hour. I travel on occasion and I really like the fact that I can do a modified TT workout on the road and not need to skip out on my exercise.
So here’s how this Fitness for Football Officials will work. I’ll post new and relevant content on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at noon for the rest of the month. I will also be sharing some PDF workout files with you as soon as I get the download page programmed and working. I hope to cap this off with an interview with Craig at the end of the month.
Hope you
all enjoy this new focus. Its certainly motivated me and I’m excited about dropping 10 pounds this off-season and a few inches off my waist.
I’d be interested in hearing your goals and challenges. We can post them here on the site and keep each other motivated and on track. Please send me your comments on the blog, via email or Facebook/Twitter.
You can check out Craig’s Turbulence Training blog.
Need more visual evidence? You can also check out Craig’s videos on YouTube by clicking Fitness Videos. Craig has posts tons of health and workout tips on YouTube and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.
Last but certainly not least, I’m working on a podcast interview with Craig in the very near future. Stay tuned for that!
Here is to you and your health. If football officiating can motivate us to improve our fitness, health and overall well-being then we are better as a result on several fronts.

Be the Best on the Field (and in the gym too!)
