About Todd Skaggs

First, let me thank you if you are checking out this site. Its a small project that started in December of 2009 and the best is really yet to come. Second, let me tell you a little about the author (me). I am a 7 year football official from Louisville, KY and the recently inducted Treasurer for the Kentuckiana Football Officials Association. I officiate in both the Kentucky High School and West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Association (Division II) where I work as a Field Judge.

I’ve had this book idea for about a year now and decided it would be my New Year’s resolution. The intent of the book is provide insight from officials at the highest levels on what it takes to improve and move up the ladder. I have interviewed over 30 NFL and NCAA officials on their career as well as NCAA conference commissioners seeking what they look for in prospects or as they evaluate new talent. As a result of the interviews, I am consolidating all the information, identifying trends and interesting information, then writing the book for a target audience of aspiring and motivated officials like myself. I can honestly say this information better prepared me for taking the next step and I want to share this with other like-minded officials.

I will be posting useful and interesting information that results from my research and interviews with today’s top football officials. There might be summaries, quotes or even short audio files. Keep checking back or bookmark my site so you can check out the latest news or information on being a great football official.Better yet, sign up for the FREE email course and you will receive email updates as new information is posted to the blog.

I encourage you to forward or refer your fellow officials to the site. This by the refs, for the refs and I am committed to building a community of officials with goals to improve and advance. You can follow me on Twitter or on Facebook. I encourage you to reach out, send me a note, or leave a comment on the blog. I also host a podcast where you can listen to the interviews directly. Its called the Referee Nation podcast and you can check it out at www.refereenation.com or subscribe to the podcast at iTunes. There are also some quick links on the home page on the right hand side.

Suggestions are appreciated, feedback is welcomed and ideas for future blog posts or podcast interviews should be forwarded to me at todd@profootballreferee.com.

I am passionate about football officiating and I look forward to sharing this with you Until the next time,

Be the Best on the Field

Thanks, Todd
